What is Forever Clear BBL™?
Forever Clear Broad Band Light (BBL™) therapy is a non-invasive, no downtime acne treatment by Sciton® that helps treat your acne without the need for creams or medication. This painless laser-based procedure treats the cause of acne in order to clear breakouts, and is a powerful compliment to your existing acne regimen.
The Forever Clear BBL™ procedure utilizes light energy to clear acne along with the hyperpigmentation and skin damage caused by acne. Broad Band Light (BBL™) is the strongest form of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), and it works by delivering light energy deep into the skin to target the oil-producing glands and remove acne-causing bacteria.
Forever Clear BBL™ is a great option for individuals 16 years and older with active acne. The treatment can be performed on most areas of the body, with the most common sites being the face, neck, and back. Those who undergo treatment may experience the following benefits:
- Resolution of active acne
- Improved, even skin tone
- Reduced pore size
- Reduction in future acne breakouts
The Procedure:
Since the Forever Clear BBL™ procedure is virtually painless, there is no need for numbing cream or injections. Your skin is first cleansed to remove all makeup and lotions. A cool gel is then applied to the skin areas being treated. Your physician will then apply the BBL light to your skin to eliminate acne-causing bacteria and calm irritation. Depending on the skin area treated, eye shields or protective glasses are placed to protect your eyes.
The entire process lasts about 15-30 minutes, depending on the number of areas being treated.
What to Expect After the Procedure:
Patients typically have little to no downtime after their Forever Clear BBL™ treatment, and may resume their normal routine immediately after their session. It is normal to develop some redness and inflammation for the first couple days after treatment, and this should fade quickly as your skin heals. Sunscreen should be worn after the procedure. Makeup can be applied following treatment if desired.
Patients can expect to see an improvement after just one treatment, but treatment time and total number of treatments needed vary from patient to patient. For optimal results, our physicians recommend you undergo 3-4 sessions with occasional “touch ups” treatments depending on the severity of your acne.
